GULMOHUR’S YOUNG INNOVATOR AKSHAT SARKAR SECURES USD 9,500 INTERNATIONAL GRANT!
A proud moment for Gulmohur High School, Jamshedpur!
We are delighted to share that Akshat Sarkar, a Class IX student, has been awarded a USD 9,500 grant through Emergent Ventures, a programme associated with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, USA, to further develop his innovative TS GLDC – LPG Gas Leak Detection and Prevention Tape.
From INSPIRE-MANAK Recognition to International Grant Support!
Akshat envisions developing an affordable LPG safety solution with a target cost of approximately ₹50, potentially making household safety technology accessible to millions of families.
The grant will support further research, laboratory development, scientific testing and product validation.

TechBot Innovation Hub (2023): By establishing Jamshedpur’s first AI and Robotics Lab, we created a dedicated space for students to explore emerging technologies, develop computational thinking and engage in hands-on experimentation.
Gulmohur Startup Studio (2026): Taking innovation beyond the laboratory, we established a student entrepreneurship platform where young minds are encouraged to develop ideas into tangible products through mentorship, collaboration, creativity and practical problem-solving.
Encouraging Student-Led Innovation: Through experiential learning, project-based exploration and opportunities to participate in innovation programmes, we empower students to identify real-world challenges, think independently and pursue original solutions.
Our goal is not merely to teach students about innovation, but to enable them to become innovators.

What makes Akshat’s vision particularly inspiring is his desire to take other students along on his entrepreneurial journey.
He plans to involve fellow innovators from the Gulmohur Startup Studio in his venture, offering opportunities for collaborative research, experimentation and product development.
An individual achievement thus has the potential to become a collective learning experience, inspiring an entire generation of young innovators.
