Gulmohur High School organised a ‘Felicitation Ceremony’ for the outstanding performance by students who appeared for their Board Examination (class X and XII) for the year 2018-19. The school proudly celebrates the glorious efforts of the students which helped the school in getting its first State Topper Vedika Chandra (99%) closely followed by Sumit Agarwal (98.4%), Nishita Agarwal (98/2%) and a total of 30 students who scored a whopping 90% and above in their ICSE Examination. The highest scorers of class XII were also awarded for their brilliant performance in the ISC examination.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Sunita Sinha (Ex-Principal Gulmohur High School). Other dignitaries present in the occasion were members of the managing committee: Mr. Amitav Sahay (Chairman), Mr. Rakesh Kumar Sarangi (Vice Chairman), Mr. Rajeev Sharma (Treasurer)and Mr. Mukesh Khokle (Secretary). The achievers were awarded with a certificate of merit and cash prize.

State Topper Vedika Chandra, in her speech mentioned how setting a realistic goal and sticking religiously to the time-table that she made helped her in becoming the State Topper in Jharkhand. She also thanked her teachers who mentored her to perfection and cleared every single doubt she had before she appeared for her exams. Sumit Agarwal shared that his success was a result of preparation, hard work and his learning from failure.

The faculty at Gulmohur High School was indeed very satisfied with the performance of the students. Mrs. Baishali Dasgupta (Subject Incharge: English) says that it is the consistent efforts over a number of years by the students and their commitment and dedication that has paid off with such high achievements.  Mr. Niranjan Sarangi (Subject Incharge: Chemistry) owed the success to the adoption of innovative teaching methods like – Error Analysis done by students, formation of a mutual whatapp group for the high achievers where they could clarify their doubts from their teachers at any given time. Mr. Nihar Sarangi (Subject Incharge: Physics) emphasised that thorough and rigorous revision of each topic and solving related worksheets helped the students a great deal. 

Principal Speaks – The Principal on the occasion said that the school curriculum is carefully designed to cater to the needs of changing trends in learning and facilitate the learning of skills that are very relevant for students’ current and future needs. The blend of activities, hands-on experiences, multi faith prayer, group-based learning, celebrations and field trips bring out the best and represent the shift from an emphasis on providing content to providing skills. She further applauded the well-equipped teachers who utilize innovative teaching techniques like mind mapping, multiple intelligence, constructivist approach, story maps, public speaking, 6 Thinking Hats, Error Analysis to enhance the teaching learning.

The school hopes to continue to excel on the path paved by these outstanding achievers and wish the future batches to seek motivation from their seniors. The school would also like to extend its heartfelt gratitude towards the management committee whose constant support and encouragement has guided the school to dream big and achieve greater heights.
